In this video I am going to show how easy it is to convert a Swing application to AJAX website using AjaxSwing.
Let’s run a standard Java SwingSet2 application and see how it looks in desktop mode. I type in the command line to launch it locally. When the application comes up I can click buttons, switch tab and open dialogs.
Now let’s convert this application to a website using AjaxSwing. After installing AjaxSwing I run its console and start the App Wizard. I type in the application name and fully qualified main class name. On the next page I specify application jar files and click next. I leave the default theme name and press finish to let AjaxSwing do its magic. Now it prompts me to view the application in the browser. I click yes, watch built in webserver start… and voila! I see the application running as a web site in the browser.
